Key Light was set up by Susan Lawton, who has over twenty years' experience of working behind the scenes on many well-known television programmes. Susan trained with leading London image consultants Aston and Hayes in 2006 and is an affiliate member of The Federation of Image Consultants.

One of the problems facing women - and sometimes men - once they've passed a big '0' birthday is that they still want to keep sight of their style aspirations but find it difficult when confronted by ever-changing fashions that seem geared more to younger people. Susan feels her TV background can help clients in this situation.

'Behind the scenes, TV is a youthful industry, and I think those of us who have been working in TV for a while find that adapting fashion trends to suit us has become second nature, because we are influenced by younger, fashionable colleagues - experience that may be relevant for some of my image consultancy clients. We also learn what does and does not look good on camera - and the same principles could equally apply to private functions, such as wedding videos. And, of course, we see at first hand how household names make the most of their looks, age and style.'

Key Light takes its name from the film and television term for the light that makes an actor or presenter look their best on TV or a large screen. It's a light that enhances a person's features whilst diminishing their facial faults. A very similar effect is gained if you wear the shades of colour most in harmony with your natural colouring. Your face becomes illuminated, almost as if you have your own key light shining on you.
